You may have heard recently about the booming Chinese economy and how learning Mandarin or Chinese could be a huge asset in business, but if there is one language you should be learning, it should be Spanish as the native speakers of this tongue are spread far and wide across the globe. The Chinese languages may be spoken by more people but only because the nation is the most populated country by some distance.

The Chinese tend to spread across the world but are willing learners when it comes to speaking the native tongue of its adopted country. Even in business in China, they are taught English from an early age to help with export and international trading. But already the Chinese economic boom has taken a downturn, and it leaves us with a no-brainer decision to make when deciding which language we should best learn to get ahead in business.

To learn Spanish, you will have the distinct advantage of knowing its alphabet is rudimentarily similar to English. If you were to take a look at the alphabet of the Chinese language, you would be stunned to discover there isn’t one, per say. Chinese and Mandarin has more characters which are intensely challenging, to say the least.

There are more than 400 million people speaking Spanish around the globe, but one statistic that might surprise you is that 33 million of those are residents in the United States. And the Latin American nations are big trading partners with the U.S., Europe, and Asia. An ability to speak Spanish you will be better equipped to communicate in business and socially too.

Solid and quick communication can be the difference between sealing a contract, getting a good deal on a product or service and keeping a customer satisfied. Ability to communicate with trading partners in Spanish is a hugely impressive tick box on your CV/resume. Although it would be equally impressive to have fluency in Chinese or Mandarin, there isn’t a great deal of demand for it in business.
